Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-09-20

These terms govern access to the CyberLex platform and its Lexy AI module, published by MEDIA SMART, as well as subscriptions to the paid plans. They form a contract between you and MEDIA SMART: by creating an account, you accept them. The French version is the reference version.

1. Purpose

These terms of service and of sale (the “Terms”) set out how the CyberLex platform and its AI-assisted research module, Lexy AI (together, the “Service”), may be accessed and used.

They apply to every visitor, account holder and subscriber, whether on the free plan, a trial or a paid plan.

2. Publisher

The Service is published and operated by MEDIA SMART, publisher of the CyberLex platform and the Lexy AI module.

Address: UV 07 / UV 20, Nouvelle Ville Ali Mendjeli, Constantine, Algeria.

Contact: contact@cybrlex.com.

3. Acceptance of the Terms

Creating an account requires accepting these Terms and the Privacy Policy. That acceptance is collected through a checkbox at signup; its timestamp and the version of the documents accepted are kept as proof.

If you do not accept these Terms, you must not create an account or use the Service.

If you subscribe on behalf of a firm, a company or an institution, you represent that you have authority to bind it.

4. Account and eligibility

Accounts are open to adults only. An account is personal and held in one name.

At signup you provide accurate, current information: your full name, your professional capacity (lawyer, notary, judge, bailiff, in-house counsel, academic, law student, other) and, where applicable, the organisation you belong to. This information identifies you, adapts the Service to your use, and appears on your invoices.

Your email address must be verified before you can reach the Service. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity carried out from your account; report unauthorised use to contact@cybrlex.com without delay.

Sharing one account between several people is not permitted — multi-seat plans exist for that.

5. Plans, free trial and prices

The Service is offered as a permanently free plan and several paid plans, monthly or yearly. Each plan's allowances (searches per day, results per search, Lexy credits, seats) are shown on the pricing page and in the signup form at the time of subscription.

Every paid plan comes with a free trial whose length is stated on the plan. The trial starts when your email address is verified, not when the account is created.

No payment details are asked for at signup. If no payment has been approved when the trial ends, the account moves to the free plan: there is no automatic charge and no paid auto-renewal.

Prices are in Algerian dinars, excluding tax. They may change; a change has no effect on a period already paid for.

6. Payment, invoicing and renewal

Payment is made by CCP, BaridiMob or bank transfer. You upload the payment receipt from your billing area; it is reviewed, and the subscription is then activated for the period purchased.

Until the receipt is approved the subscription stays pending and the paid plan's entitlements are not opened. A refusal is explained, and you may upload another receipt.

An invoice is issued for each period paid. It carries the billing identity recorded on your account at the moment it is issued; editing that information afterwards does not rewrite an invoice already produced.

Renewal is deliberate: at the end of a period, a new payment and a new receipt are needed to extend it.

7. Cancellation by you, and refunds

You may stop using the Service at any time and ask for your account to be deleted by writing to contact@cybrlex.com.

The free trial exists so the Service can be evaluated before any payment. A period already paid for and activated is therefore not refunded, except in the case of a prolonged outage attributable to us.

Deleting the account deletes your content within the periods set out in the Privacy Policy, except for data we are required by law to keep (invoicing, proof of consent).

8. What the Service is: information, not advice

CyberLex provides sourced legal information and research assistance. The Service is not a legal consultation and does not replace the judgment of a qualified legal professional.

Lexy AI produces its answers by retrieval-augmented generation over the CyberLex corpus and cites the primary sources it used. An AI system can nonetheless miss a text, misread its scope, or present as current a text that no longer is.

You must check every answer against the source it cites before relying on it. The decision, and the professional responsibility for it, remain yours.

We keep the corpus current from the Journal Officiel without warranting that it is exhaustive, or that the status of any given text (in force, amended, repealed, suspended) is accurate at any given moment. Only the texts published in the Journal Officiel of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria are authoritative.

9. Acceptable use

You agree to use the Service in accordance with the law and these Terms. The following are prohibited:

  • bulk, automated or systematic extraction of the corpus (scraping, bots, scripts), and rebuilding a competing database from it;
  • reselling, redistributing or otherwise making access to the Service or its outputs available to third parties;
  • sharing credentials, and circumventing quotas or usage limits;
  • any attack, or attempted attack, on the security, integrity or availability of the Service;
  • uploading unlawful content to the workspace, or content you do not hold the necessary rights to;
  • presenting an answer from the Service as legal advice issued by CyberLex.

10. Intellectual property

Official legal texts are public acts and are not appropriated by MEDIA SMART. The structure of the corpus, the status metadata, the links between texts, the summaries, the interface, the CyberLex and Lexy marks and the Service's software are, however, protected and remain the property of MEDIA SMART.

A subscription grants a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right of use, limited to its duration. It transfers no ownership.

You may quote and reuse extracts of official texts in the course of your professional work. Reusing CyberLex's structuring, metadata or editorial content for redistribution requires our written agreement.

11. Your content

You remain the owner of the files, matters and notes you place in your workspace. You grant us only the technical right to host, display and process them in order to provide you with the Service.

You warrant that you hold the rights to the content you upload and are responsible for its lawfulness, in particular as regards the professional secrecy that binds you.

12. Availability and evolution of the Service

The Service is continuously available, subject to maintenance, updates and events of force majeure. We announce planned interruptions in advance wherever possible.

The Service evolves: modules may be added, changed or withdrawn. Withdrawing a substantial feature from a paid plan mid-period entitles the subscriber, at their option, to keep the price or to cancel with a refund of the unused period.

13. Suspension and termination by MEDIA SMART

We may suspend or close an account in the event of a breach of these Terms — in particular of clause 9 — of payment fraud, or of use that endangers the security or availability of the Service.

Except in cases of serious breach or legal obligation, suspension is preceded by a warning and a reasonable period to put things right. A suspension imposed without fault on the user's part entitles them to a pro-rata refund of the unused period.

14. Liability

MEDIA SMART owes an obligation of means in providing the Service.

We are not liable for the consequences of a decision taken on an answer from the Service alone without checking it against the source, for loss resulting from use contrary to these Terms, or for unavailability caused by events outside our control.

In any event, and save for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, our liability under these Terms is limited to the amounts actually paid by the user over the twelve months preceding the triggering event.

15. Personal data

The processing of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and is drawn up in accordance with Law 18-07 of 10 June 2018, as amended by Law 25-11 of 24 July 2025.

Cookies and trackers are described in the Cookie Policy. Your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, withdrawal of consent and portability are exercised at contact@cybrlex.com.

16. Changes to the Terms

These Terms may be amended. Each version is identified by its date, shown at the top of this page.

Any substantial change is notified to you before it takes effect, and acceptance is asked for again at your next sign-in. If you do not accept, you may cancel at no cost and the unused paid period is refunded.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Algerian law.

In the event of a dispute, the parties first seek an amicable settlement. Failing agreement within thirty days, the courts of Algiers have exclusive jurisdiction.

The French version of these Terms is the reference version; the English and Arabic versions are provided as translations.
